The CT-453 is a high-capacity clamp-on AC current transducer designed for monitoring large electrical loads in industrial and commercial power systems. Featuring a split-core clamp design, the CT-453 allows current measurements to be taken without disconnecting wiring, simplifying installation and reducing downtime.

Designed for use with compatible 0–5 VDC monitoring equipment such as the ACR SRX3 Current Logger, the CT-453 converts AC current into a proportional DC voltage signal suitable for long-term load profiling and energy monitoring applications.

The large 52 mm jaw opening accommodates larger conductors and feeder cables commonly found in power distribution systems, motor control applications, and facility monitoring projects. The transducer is self-powered from the monitored conductor and does not require an external power supply.

Q&A

How do I know if the 1000 A range is right for my application?

With a range of 0–1000 Amps, the CT-453 is well suited for large commercial and industrial electrical systems, feeder monitoring applications, building service entrances, and high-current equipment load studies where operating currents may approach 1000 A.

For best measurement resolution, the selected probe should generally be rated approximately 1.25× to 1.5× higher than the expected maximum operating current. If your application normally operates far below 1000 A, a lower-range probe may provide improved measurement resolution.

Does the CT-453 require an external power supply?

No. The CT-453 is self-powered from the magnetic field generated by the conductor being monitored and does not require a separate external power source.

Is this probe compatible with my SRX3 AC Current Logger?

Yes. The CT-453 outputs a 0–5 VDC signal which is compatible with the 0–5 VDC input channels on the SRX3.

How does the CT-453 connect to the SRX3?

The probe connects directly to one of the SRX3’s 0–5 VDC input channels using its analog output leads.

Do I need to disconnect high voltage wiring to install the probe?

No. The split-core clamp-on design allows installation around an existing conductor without disconnecting wiring.

Can multiple probes be used together?

Yes. Multiple CT-453 probes can be connected to multi-channel loggers such as the SRX3 for monitoring multiple circuits or three-phase systems.
